Singles report, Q1 2015

My running singles playlist for the year suddenly has 35 songs in it, barely into April. And I even cut some things. This has been a very “meh” year for albums so far, but a great one for singles (always my preferred medium anyway). Usher and Nicki’s singles aren’t as good as their 2014 entries but I can’t get them out of my head anyway and don’t want to. Taylor and D’Angelo’s singles from their late ‘14 albums are great, though not as great as their parent records. And Johnny Gill and Jodeci remind us that the R&B vets still have it. (A few of these will be reviewed on The Singles Jukebox later this week.)

  1. “I Don’t Mind,” Usher featuring Juicy J
  2. “Truffle Butter,” Nicki Minaj featuring Drake and Lil Wayne
  3. “Don’t Wanna Dance,” Elle Varner featuring A$AP Ferg
  4. “Every Moment,” Jodeci
  5. “Behind Closed Doors,” Johnny Gill
  6. “Style,” Taylor Swift
