Let us now praise Jody Watley

Let’s take a moment to praise Jody Watley, who had 6 top 10 pop singles (7 top 10 R&B) from her first two albums, from 1987-89, but really hit her stride with her next two efforts, 1991′s Affairs of the Heart and 1993′s Intimacy, from which “Your Love Keeps Working on Me” (#100 pop/#26 R&B) is taken. While she wasn’t super long for commercial success, I have no qualms whatsoever with her Best New Artist Grammy win (what, you would’ve given it to Terence Trent D’Arby?). And this isn’t even to mention her tenure in Shalamar. She’s still got the voice, too.
